RESEACH

I provided advice, laboratory support and statistical assistance for research projects undertaken by clinicians. I supervised projects for Biomedical Scientists who are studying for an MSc and I undertook medical audit projects.

I helped obtain grants for, and supervised, students from Glasgow, Robert Gordon and Strathclyde Universities for various projects conducted during vacations from 1985 to 1996. More recently, several members of the work experience programme which I ran on behalf of the hospital for senior school pupils who are considering medicine as a career, took part in research and audit projects. I have co-authored several papers and oral and poster presentations arising from these and other studies.

I have published some 20 scientific papers, a variety of abstracts, a chapter in "International Collaboration in Laboratory Medicine: A Model Programme" MH Dominiczak, (Ed) University of Glasgow (1998) and "Joint European Project: Development of Academic Laboratory Medicine" MH Dominiczak, (Ed) University of Glasgow (1999) and a book entitled "People who made Scottish Clinical Biochemistry" (1995).
