Monday 21st July I got a lift from my cousin, Howard West, to London Airport where I spent a good part of the day on the roof gardens. Up there all the planes that take off or land are announced over the loudspeakers. (And in 1958 they made a great deal of there being 50 planes on the runways each hour.) Then I went round the Airport on a coach. This included going through - under - the half mile tunnel beneath the runway.
