Invicta in Canterbury Museum A

Invicta is housed in the old Poor Priest Hospital, Canterbury's Heritage Museum. There is not a lot of space so it is difficult to get a good photograph (that's my excuse!)

The first surprise was the lack of accommodation for the driver - the picture of the opening of the line show Invicta coupled to a separate 2-wheeled coal and water wagon in which stands a fireman.

The second surprise was the basic nature of the controls - the driver's main control appears to be link to a lever which opens and closes a valve at the base of the steam manifold. Presumably the other level is a forward / reverse mechanism. There do not appear to be any brakes!
