In 1954 James K Grant, who was working in Edinburgh under Professor Marrian, started to work one or two days a week in the Pathology Department in Glasgow.
In 1960 he was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Steroid Biochemistry and in 1968 as Reader in Steroid Chemistry. He retired in 1981
