Introduction and Index

Jesus said, "This is how you should pray, "Our Father in heaven: may your holy name be honoured; may your kingdom come." - Matthew 6 v 9

God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee named Nazareth. He had a message for a girl promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was a descendent of King David. The girl's name was Mary. The angel came to her and said, "Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!"

Mary was deeply troubled by the angel's message, and she wondered what his words meant. The angel said to her, "Don't be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord will make him a king, as his ancestor David was, and he will be the king of the descendants of Jacob for ever; his kingdom will never end!" - Luke 1 v 26 - 33

There were loud voices in heaven saying, "The power to rule over the world belongs now to our Lord and his Messiah, and he will rule for ever and ever!" - Revelation 11 v 15

"May your kingdom come!" 0 Lord, as I look around this world with all its mix of prosperity and poverty, of happiness and sorrow, of peace and of conflict, I can get a glimpse of what a gloriously happy place you planned this to be. It is so sad that human greed, sin, and selfishness has spoiled it so much. Oh! If only your kingdom would come! If only everyone not only owned Jesus as King, but went about doing good the way he did! What a different place this planet would be! So I pray, "May your kingdom come!"

May men and women, boys and girls everywhere learn about Jesus. Especially, may my friends and family learn about Jesus - about his love for them, about how you offer to all who trust him forgiveness of sins, adoption into your family and eternal life. As they hear of him, may they come to enthrone him in their hearts as their King; may they give their allegiance to him; may they love and serve him all their days. And when this life is over, may they have the joy of being with their King in heaven for ever and ever.
