Introduction and Index

"Do not be afraid - I will save you. I have called you by name - you are mine. When you pass through deep waters I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burnt; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel who saves you." - Isaiah 43 v 1 - 3

Jesus said, "I will be with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28 v 20

The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water. He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised. Even though I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid. Lord, for you are with me. - Psalm 23 v 1 - 4

Whoever wants to serve me must follow me, so that my servant will be with me where I am. - John 12 v 26

Lord Jesus, I do worry about the future. I just don't know how I would cope with unemployment, or with old age or terminal illness, or with the death of someone close to me.

The only comfort I have is your promise to be with me no matter what happens. Help me to believe this and to rest on that promise. Please give to me certainty about what lies beyond death so that I may put my faith in you as the one who will be specially there for me when this life ends and my new life in heaven with you begins.
